At Blooming Stars Education Center, we have a very enriched and hands-on curriculum that are designed by our experienced teachers. We have Infant-toddler, Toddler and Preschool curriculums. Our curriculum is aligned with early childhood development standards and Montessori education methods.
Practical Life
Children learn daily life skills, such as how to get dressed, prepare snacks, set the table, and care for plants and animals. They also learn appropriate social interactions, such as saying please and thank-you, being kind and helpful, listening without interrupting, and resolving conflicts peacefully. In addition to teaching specific skills, Practical Life activities promote independence, and fine- and gross-motor coordination.
Sensorial
Children refine skills in perceiving the world through their different senses, and learn how to describe and name their experiences—for example, rough and smooth, perceived through touch. Sensorial learning helps children classify their surroundings and create order. It lays the foundation for learning by developing the ability to classify, sort, and discriminate—skills necessary in math, geometry, and language.
Math
Through hands-on activities, children learn to identify numerals and match them to their quantity, understand place-value and the base-10 system, and practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They also explore patterns in the numbering system. With an exploratory approach, children do more than just memorize math facts; they gain a firm understanding of the meaning behind them.
Language
Activities throughout the Early Childhood classroom teach language, help children acquire vocabulary, and develop skills needed for writing and reading. The ability to write, a precursor to reading, is taught first. Using hands-on materials, children learn letter sounds, how to combine sounds to make words, how to build sentences, and how to use a pencil. Once these skills are acquired, children spontaneously learn to read.
Cultural Studies
A wide range of subjects, including history, geography, science, art, and music, are integrated into lessons in the cultural area of the curriculum. Children learn about their own community and the world around them. Discovering similarities and differences among people and places helps them develop an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of our world and a respect for all living things.
Add Enrichment - Detail Art, Dance and IcRobot
During afternoon care for our Preschool Programs we offer Erichments Sessions of Art on Tuesday, Music and Movement on Wednesday and IcRobot on Thursday. The Enrichment Sessions are offered based on the family's interest in enrolling their child and require an additional payment from families.
Art
Montessori-based art focuses on the process rather than the product of an open-ended activity. This allows children freedom within limits of expression without the pressures of a determined outcome. Children can focus on a particular skill, such as fine motor skills through using scissors while learning to master new complex art by combining an abstract concept with nature-made materials.
Music and Movement
Cultural music, songs, and dance are explored through singing and movement which engage the child’s cognition for creativity, imagination, coordination, and rhythmic exercises that may require memory for direction and repetition. Beat, rhythm, tempo, and other aspects of music are practiced and learned as the children enjoy movements that create a link between what the ear hears and how the body is called to move. What children learn through music and movement is shared with families throughout the school year at Blooming Star Education Center seasonal holiday events and ceremonies that have become a core aspect of our school culture.
IcRobot
IcRobot aims to provide age-appropriate coding and robotics educational programs to children in an engaging and enriching environment with professional and supportive teachers and coaches. In our classes, we provide a variety of activities to engage children in observation, communication, logical thinking, problem-solving, and individual/teamwork, aiming to facilitate children's social-emotional development.
